Pace Yourself: Take breaks as needed, especially on steep sections, to avoid overexertion.
Communicate Any Concerns: If you feel uncomfortable or need assistance, don’t hesitate to let your know. Please let us know if you have any fear of heights, breathing or respiratory and heart problems ahead of time.

Transportation is offered for this tour from any location across Mauritius. Due to the location of this tour, fair pay for our guides, vehicle capacity, and fuel-surcharges we price this service separately. If you would like us to provide pick-up and drop-off services for your experience, we ask that you add the appropriate transportation selection for the number of people in your party, and specify in your booking the location where you would like us to meet you. Our vehicles can carry up to 4 individuals. For example, if you are a party of 8 travellers staying in the south of Mauritius, please select 2x South Island Transportation.
Private & Shared Groups
This is a group only hike, meaning we will maintain the 6-1 client-to-guide ratio per overall group size for safety and to ensure a consistent experience. You may book at least 2 travellers for this hike. If you would like to enquire about arranging a private hike, or have questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
About your hike
Embarking on a magnificent Le Morne Brabant adventure is one of those bucket-list dreams of every traveller who visits Mauritius!
On your guided trek, you'll witness the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean, panoramic views of Fourneau Island and when you finally reach the cross and raise your hands in celebration, a great sense of achievement like you've never felt before will overwhelm you. With high altitudes, we'll be with you every step of the way.
Le Morne is 555 meters high, we will stop at 520 meters - and involves a hike of 7 km from start to finish. The hike to the cross of Morne Brabant lasts between 4-5 hours, depending on the fitness level of the group.

A GOOD breakfast prior to starting the hike is A MUST!
Staying hydrated is ESSENTIAL on this hike. Prepare NO LESS THAN 2 litres of water. Please ensure you have sufficient nutrients such as snacks and/or fruits to avoid fatigue.

Please make sure to dress accordingly for this hike. Hands and feet should be free for the rock scrambling part of Le Morne mountain. Please make sure that you wear hiking or trail running shoes with good grip.
Le Morne is rated 4/5 in terms of difficulty. It is important to take the necessary precautions to 1) Have the best possible experience and 2) Prevent injuries.

Some History
Le Morne Brabant, a rugged mountain that juts into the Indian Ocean in the southwest of Mauritius was used as a shelter by runaway slaves through the 18th and early 19th centuries. Protected by the mountain’s isolated, wooded and almost inaccessible cliffs, the escaped slaves formed small settlements in the caves and on the summit of Le Morne. The oral traditions associated with the maroons, have made Le Morne a symbol of the slaves’ fight for freedom, their suffering and their sacrifice.
